For many of you this is a easy question and you already understand the concept of salvation. But there are also many people who have been misled concerning this topic. Therefore I am led to write this important article.
Accusation: "We are not saved in this life. Salvation is a process. We are saved at the Resurrection and not until then. Saved from what? eternal death of course. Therefore we are not saved until we receive eternal life at the resurrection."
Answer:
Yes it is true that Salvation is a process and that the process is not over with until we are fully Spirit and no longer flesh. However, Salvation has begun as soon as a person accepts Christ as their SAVIOUR and then is sealed when they receive the Holy Spirit of GOD wherein is Eternal Life immediately. We are therefore NOW saved and have eternal life and will not suffer the second death. We then continue to grow in the salvation and continue to work out our salvation. (It can be lost. We are NOT once saved always saved). It is acceptable and approiate for a Christian to say that they are saved. To try to focus on the WORDs "saved/salvation" and deny that we are saved in this life is to strive about words. It is an important doctrine and message to get out to the people in this life that Salvation IS Available to them.
Here are some passages that indicate that Salvation has already begun, therefore We CAN say we ARE Saved Now:
Luke 7:50
And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
