Serving GOD in Spirit and in Truth
John 4:23-24

1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"
Speaking in Tongues
Some churches allow any and all speaking in tongues and even say that speaking in tongues must be done in order to prove you have the Holy Ghost. Then other churches forbid speaking in tongues saying either that it was reserved only for the Day of Pentecost almost 2000 years ago and/or that it is of the devil. What is the truth?
Look in the Bible for yourself. It's really simple.
Acts 2
Acts 10
Acts 19:1-7
1 Cor. 12
1 Cor. 14 and don't forget 1 Cor. 14:39 That cannot be ignored or erased!
Mark 16:17
Speaking in tongues is a Real Gift from GOD. Sometimes some people speak false gibbish, some times people speak in devil tongues BUT other times some people do correctly use the real gift from GOD known as speaking in tongues. IF and when done from/of God, it is Biblical. The ministers that forbid it are going against 1 Cor. 14:39 "forbid not to speak with tongues"! Paul's solution to the tongues problem in the Corinthian Church was not to forbid tongues, but to correct the improper use of the gift from GOD. It was not for just the day of Pentecost. Pentecost happened in Acts 2. But speaking in tongues was continued in Acts 10 and Acts 19. No where in the Bible does it say that it stopped being allowed or that it was reserved only for the early days of the church. In fact, it says it will also be for the end times! And if it was for the early days AND the end times, then it is also for the in-between times! Acts 2:16-20.
If you live in fear and don't allow the Spirit of God to move in your services, how is God going to manifest this end time speaking in tongues and seeing visions that the Bible does speak about? You must allow people to simply say the word "Amen" and lift up their voice and praise God! You must allow the congregation to worship God and not be ashamed or embarrassed to openly worship and praise God. Let God do what God wants to do!
However, there are also tongues of the devil as well of course. I have heard both. I have received tongues and I have interpreted tongues. Tongues must not be focused on as being the only evidence of having received the Holy Ghost/Spirit. It is NOT the only evidence! 1 Cor. 12:10, 27-31 Everyone does not receive the gift of speaking in tongues. Just as we must not forbid it, we must also not require it. The Bible does NOT say that speaking in tongues is required and it does NOT say that speaking in tongues is the ONLY evidence of receiving the Holy Ghost. However it does teach that we must receive the Holy Ghost. But there are more than one evidences of having received it.
Please see our Worship page for more information on how we can truly and respectfully worship and praise God in Spirit and in Truth. I would also recommend you do a bible study on the words "sing", "praise", "shout", "dance", etc. Do your research and do not believe us and do not believe those other churches. Believe your Bible!
Clarification: We do NOT believe in just rambling babel gibbish. That is of the devil. But we do believe the Bible when it says there IS true speaking in tongues. How can that be? Well, the Bible speaks of it!!! There is a difference. The babeling devil tongues are pretty evident and you can sense when it is fake or of evil spirits. But true tongues, when it occurs, will either be followed by interpretation OR else someone will understand in their own language without interpretation, that is, they will understand in their own language. But to others, it may sound like a foreign language. It may be meant as a message just to one person or one couple in the congregation. I have heard of that happening. And then there is also the times that the tongues is used to talk/pray to God in the Spirit. That is also biblical and does not come with interpretation or human understanding because the person is talking to God, not to the congregation. Please check out ALL the scriptures on the subject and don't just pick and choose which scriptures. Don't ignore one scripture in favor of another scripture. If we forbid all speaking in tongues, then we will never see the true tongues. If a person speaks in a devil tongue, then the minister WILL go to that person right then and there and will rebuke the devil. I have seen that happen more than once. Please search the scriptures and pray and fast concerning this subject.
1 Corinthians 14 KJV
1 Follow after charity, and desire SPIRITUAL GIFTS, but rather that ye may prophesy.
(This connects chapter 12 gifts with chapter 14 gifts)
2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
(If you are not speaking to men, but to GOD, that is called a prayer. So here praying in unknown tongues is called a spiritual gift. Also notice the phrase "IN THE SPIRIT". Compare Jude verse 20; "But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying IN THE HOLY SPIRIT." So clearly Jude 20 and 1 Cor. 14 is the one and same gift.)
3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
(Again, speaking/praying in unknown tongue edifieth self= Jude 20 "Building yourselves up".)
5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
(NASB makes it more clear that Paul is saying that althought it would be nice IF everyone could speak in tongues, it is MORE SO that everyone could prophesy. Yet we know that not everyone has the gift of Prophecy AND not everyone has the gift of unknown tongues. 1 Cor. 12:28-31. We are to seek the better gifts. And here we learn that prophecy IS the better gift, Yet, the pentecostal churches do not command that everyone prophesy. The truth is that everyone has different gifts. No one single gift is required other than the receipt fo the Holy Ghost, which is evidenced by many things, prophecy, faith, love, fruits, gifts, offices, etc. There is NOT one single evidence that must be manifested in all followers of Christ.)
6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
(Here the person is speaking in tongues in the presence of the congregation.)
7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?
8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.
12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual giftS, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
(verse 14 makes it clear that verses 6-13 is STILL talking about the same spiritual gift, you must read the entire context. It never declares praying in tongues as required and never declares speaking in tongues in the presence of the congregation as required. It never separates this spiritual gift into two different gifts or two different things. The gift of unknown tongues is sometimes speaking to the congregation with intrepretation for the edification of the church. At other times, this same gift of unknown tongues is to pray only unto The Father, and not to the congregation at all. So, it can serve at least two purposes. But it is still the same gift of speaking in unknown tongues.)
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
(We need to seek to understand what is being said. We desire edification and understanding. We do not seek confusion nor meaningless words. Whether we pray in the Spirit with this gift or whether we use this gift to speak in tongues to the congregation, Let's hear the Spirit is saying!)
16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
(Although Paul has the gift of tongues, he realizes and teaches that there is TOO MUCH emphasis on tongues and that it's better to speak with your normal language than to speak unknown words without understanding.)
20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
(This is a MAJOR verse! It refers back to Isa. 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
(This is the verse 1 Cor. 14:21 was quoting., speaking about the Assyrians who would invade Israel/America AND speaking in a spiritual sense concerning speaking in unknown tongues in error. 1 Cor. 14:21 refers to this verse thus proving that Isa. 28:11 has at least two meanings.)
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
The pentecostal churches love to fall backward and they love to speak with other tongues and to stammer as drunk in a spirit. Thus they are snared and taken. It can be from GOD, yet be a curse. You do NOT want to be slain in the LORD.)
Picking back up in 1 Cor. 14:
22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
(Yet this is exactly what your pentecostal preacher strives for!)
24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
(Everyone has different gifts and callings. NOT everyone speaks in tongues, Some sing, some prophesy, some teach, etc.)
27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
(Yet in the pentcostal chruches you hear several people speaking in tongues and no body understands.)
28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
(We should never go by only one verse. We must also consider Acts 2 where there were NO interpretation, some understood in their own language and did not need interpretation. Other people, the lost, did not understand. Interpretation is NOT always required. But it is preferred especially in a culture where there is too much focus on tongues and where/when there are much false tongues.)
29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
There MUST be an interpretation???
1 Cor. 14:28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
Brethren, Let me ask you this question: When GOD gives you the unction to open your mouth and let the tongues flow, How do you KNOW whether or not someone else is going to give an interpretation? You don't! So how can you keep silence? You should not limit GOD by restraining yourself from obeying Him. Let His Spirit Flow! Do NOT quence the Spirit!
There are several examples of speaking in tongues in the Bible with NO interpretation!:
Acts 2, Many people all spoke in tongues, all at the same time, not one by one, and with NO interpretors. Each person heard the language in their own tongue and therefore understood what was being said without an interpretation! Yet others did NOT understand what was being said and thought they were silly drunk!
Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Acts 10 doesn't say ANYTHING about an interpretation!
Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7And all the men were about twelve.
Acts 19 did not say ANYTHING about an interpretation!
"But ye, beloved, building up yourself on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost," Jude 20
Jude 20 is talking about using this gift of unknown tongues to pray to GOD. Why would you need an interpretation given to GOD? Why would you need an interpretation to people who you are not praying to? This is mostly done in private. But it can also be done at services. There is nothing wrong with praying in tongues at services, but should be done only by 1-2 people at a time and should hope/seek for understanding. When praying in tongues, you don't need any interpretation because you are speaking to GOD and not to the congregation, but when done during services it is preferred that a interpretation be given regardless of whether the unknown tongues was in prayer to GOD or whether it was speaking directly to the congregation.
So Why did Paul say that if there be no interpreter to keep silence?
Paul was speaking to the Corinathian Church which had let the false tongues run amonk. The church had lost control and there was nothing but confusion. So he was puting his foot down and telling those people to sit down and shut up. He was putting exter controls in place in this much needed time and location. Paul never intended to tell all churches, all christians and all church ages to NEVER allow speaking in tongues without interpretation. Pauls instructions to the corinathian church should serve as a warning to us but at the same time should not cause us to be overly legalistic about how the gift of tongues MUST be performed. True Tongues is from GOD. Let GOD have the control. Let the Holy Spirit of the law reign rather than the burden of the letter of the law. The Pastor/Bishop/Elder must be active in his duty to discern whether it was true tongues or not and then to take approiate (NOT un-approiate) action when necessary. Don't focus on just one verse. It must be here a little and there a little, line upon line, precept upon precept to get the whole picture and full understanding.
1 Thes. 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.
Learned Words:
Many times you will hear people every sunday repeat the same unknown words every sunday. It's just 1-3 seconds long and it's always the same every week. This is NOT speaking in tongues! That is just some gibberish words that they have learned somewheres. True speaking in tongues will last long enough to be a real message to someone in the listening area. Not just one or two words. It is a sentence. And is for edification, NOT to prove that they have the Holy Ghost! You don't Learn how to speak in tongues, it is a supernatural gift from GOD to select people, NOT to everyone!
Required?
Some people try to say that you MUST speak in tongues to prove that you are filled with the Holy Ghost. This is NOT biblical. Just because we read about people speaking in tongues at baptism doesn't mean that it must be that way with every person in every occasion. The Bible is clear that there are Different gifts and that not everyone has the same gifts and that NOT everyone speaks in tongues!
1 Cor. 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
14 For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand (i speak not in tongues), I am not of the body. is it therefore not of the body?
27Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29Are all apostles? (N0) are all prophets? (NO) are all teachers? (N0) are all workers of miracles? (no) 30Have all the gifts of healing? (no) do all speak with tongues? (no) do all interpret? (no).
CONDEMNING PEOPLE FOR NOT SPEAKING IN TONGUES
i have seen where people were repeatedly told that they did not have The Holy Ghost just because they couldn't speak in tongues. these people would seek hard with tears and much prayer and follow all the steps yet never get caught up in that demonic spirit. These poor people being taught they are lost. very very sad. JESUS IS ANGRY against these pentecostal whore houses which pose as the church of God! VENGENGE IS THE LORD'S! DON'T TREAT MY PEOPLE LIKE THAT!
Please give me the verse that says speaking in tongues is the EVIDENCE.
The verse does not exist! The word evidence is never used in the bible in relation to tongues. Your traditional denominations of man has taught you that. That's not from the bible. yes you can find instances where some people spoke in tongues upon receiving the holy ghost. but you can also find instances where they did NOT speak in tongues. To ASSUME that it MUST occur is adding to the scripture.
All gifts are available to all believers but not every gift is distributed to every believer. tongues is not distributed to every believer. All tongues are gift. we cannot do it of ourselves. so how can it ever not be a gift? When we pray in the spirit, the scripture says nothing about tongues. i was raised in pentecostal churches that believes that everyone can and must speak in tongues. i am very very familiar with it. and i do firmly believe it is a good and wonderful thing. IF GOD gives it to us. i am glad you are humble enough to learn. most are not. 1 Cor.12:28-31 as you read, please answer outloud to yourself each question. answer yes or no to these questions of paul. the answer is no to all those questions. Which is the best gift? Find the answer in 14:5. Read it in NASB as well. Yes it would be nice for everyone to speak in tongues. but it would also be nice if everyone could prophesy. yet we have different gifts. Where is the word TONGUES ever called anything other than a gift? no where.
Please pray after reading this article!
