New Moons & GOD's Created Calendar

CURRENT MOON

Since, we know to keep the Holy Days, and the Bible says to keep them on the certain days of the month, according to the original calendar, GOD's Created Calendar, then the next question is: When is the first day of the month? And How do we know when the Holy days are? Do we just take for granted what it says on the internet? Do we just take for granted what some organization publishes? Should we follow the Jews? The Bible says to PROVE all things.
Most people, including myself, have been keeping the Holy Days according to what is published by the church organizations, having proved in the Bible that we are to keep the Holy Days but without question to WHEN they are. The organizations go by either what the Roman Calendar says is the New Moon or by what the Jews say. However, the Roman Calendar, modern scientist and Jews definition of New Moon is "No Moon" or "dark moon"! They get their traditions from ancient Babylon.

How to Read GOD's Calendar
Many people blindly follow the Jews or they get their holy day dates from organizations that get their dates from the Jews. Yet the Scriptures NEVER tell us to follow whatever the Jews do. The Jews have adopted many traditions from ancient Babylon. i am NOT anti-Jew. In fact, i am part Jewish by blood. But we cannot follow man. The Jews are no longer in Moses seat. Christ is now the High Priest. The Jewish authorities have forsaken the True GOD. We must go by Scripture, NOT MAN. Here is what the Scriptures say:

Genesis 1:14 KJV "And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also".

The Scripture above is very clear. The sun, moon and stars are the lights spoken of and they are the Calendar of Seasons, Days AND years. The sun, moon and stars are GOD's created calendar. That is what we are to look at to see what time it is. We shouldn't follow people who are caught up in Babylonian traditions. Go directly to the calendar that GOD made for all mankind.

New Moons: The Start of the Month
According to the Bible, we should make observation of the New Moons. These are not Sabbaths, days of rest nor High Holy Days. They are not commanded assemblies/convocations. New Moons are used only for calculation of the days of the month.
The month is determined by the moon. The word "month" actually means "moon". The first day of the month is the first day of a new moon. But when is the new moon?
Jews go by when there is NO moon seen in the sky! That is not a NEW Moon. You cannot have a moon when there is no moon visible. You cannot have a sighting of the new moon if there is no moon to see. In ancient & Biblical times they would send appointed servants into the fields to observe (SEE) Gods created Calendar, the Moon. It would require 2 or 3 Witnesses observing (actually seeing) the NEWly formed Moon, that is a "New Moon", NOT "No Moon", then it would be proclaimed to the people that the new month/moon has begun. This is how Jesus and all the Apostles and Prophets knew when to keep the Feast and Holy Days! Not by a dark invisible moon!
Many people go by when the New Moon appears in Israel. That is how it was done in Israel in ancient times because they were IN ISRAEL. But today, There is no difference between Jew & Greek, GOD's people are now in many nations across the globe. We should NOT go by whether someone can see the moon in Israel. The Bible never tells us that time is based on sightings of GOD's calendar in Israel. His calendar is the sun, moon and stars. That calendar is visible all across the globe. We don't need to depend on my Jewish brothers in Israel. We can look at the clock ourselves. What if it is cloudy in Israel on the first day of the moon? What if we do not have communication with people within Israel? We cannot be dependent upon them. What if it is cloudy where we are located in the USA or Europe or whatever nation you are in? What if it is very cloudy for several days?
The month and year should start on the same day for everyone all across the planet. It doesn't make sense for it to start on a certain day for someone in America and 2 days later for someone in Africa based solely on human sighting, since weather and other conditions could interfere. Therefore, we also should use everything available to us, that will tell where the sun, moon and stars are located and in what phrase. The ancient people were not ignorant of how to tell time. They were in fact, EXPERTS on the movement of the heavenly bodies, GOD's created calendar. Today, modern day people have lost the art of telling time by the Sky. But we do now have the internet where we can find out exactly where the moon and stars are. Therefore, we can determine, YEARS AHEAD, exactly when the moon will be in the New Moon Phrase. But do NOT go by what they call "new moon". Again, you cannot have a new moon if there is NO moon. We must look to see on what day, will the moon no longer be in complete darkness but will actually start having sunlight reflecting onto it again. This would occur on the first day after conjunction. That is also called "First Crescent". NOT first "visible" crescent, because weather or the horizon or trees might interfere with your visibility from your location. The moon has began a new revolution and is again collecting light from the sun. Time is based on the amount of time it takes for the moon and Earth to make a complete cycle/circuit/revolution.
The moon runs in a cycle of 29-30 days. Therefore, in the perfect middle of the month, the 14.5-15th day, the moon should be completely FULL, which shows that the month is in the perfect fullness or perfect middle. Therefore when we have a Holy Day that starts on the 15th, we should see a perfect full moon on the 15th or within less than 24 hours from the beginning of the 15th of GODs Month. If the moon is not yet perfectly full or if it is now waning away from the full moon, then you know you started the month a day or two off.
The days of the month are determined by the moon as follows:
First day: Moon first starts to return via a very small crescent around the time of sunset, appearing near the horizon for a short amount of time. You will see the crescent on the right side. Growing larger on the RIGHT side shows it's the first days of the month rather than the last days of the month.
2nd day: The Moon is waxing/increasing slightly larger each night and ascends higher and higher into the sky each night and stays up in the sky for a greater amount of time each night.
4th day of the month: Quarter moon.
7-8th day of the month: 1/2 of the moon shines.
14.5-15th of month= Full Moon. The Full moon shows that the month is in the fullness or complete middle of the month.
16th on the month= There will start to appear a slight decreasing/waning of the moon on the right side.
22nd day= Half moon again, but this time the half moon appears on the left side rather than the right side. Therefore you know that you are in the last portions of the month rather than in the beginning days of the month.
28th day= Either just a very small crescent on the left OR no moon lit up.
29-30th day= NO moon is lit up. You might be able to see the silhouette, but it will not be lit up.

For the most accurate New Moon dates, I have listed the Holy Days and new moon dates below, later on this page. But for your own calculations/research, I recommend this link. Don't look for what they call "new moon". But rather look for the first appearance of the crescent when the moon is no longer completely dark. It doesn't matter whether EVERYONE on Earth can visibly see it or not, or whether it is visible in Israel, as long as the moon is in the phrase of no longer completely dark, then GOD's created calendar is saying that a new month as begun. Some websites will disagree on the moon phrases by a day or two. This website has proven to be very accurate on the moon phrases. When the internet is no longer available, you will just need to look up and try to view it. If it is too cloudy on a night, you will be able to tell the next night whether it is day one or two by how thick the crescent is. Full Moon is the middle of the month. However, the full moon may actually BEGIN the day before or after the perfect middle of the month, depending on how many days the month contains.

Full Moon First Day Argument:
Some people try to claim that the month starts at full moon, and not at first crescent.
However, the Strong's concordance word for "new moon" is H2320, root H2318, meaning "to be new, renew, repair." If the month starts at full moon, then the next day, the moon is waning, being darkened, NOT growing and not being re-newed. As we see month begin and increase, we should also see the moon begin and grow/increase/wax. It doesn't make sense for it be getting smaller as the month progresses toward the middle of the month.
When we start with the first day after conjunction, the first crescent (whether visible or not), the moon increases day by day until we get into the fullness of the moon, (middle/full moon). After we get pass the middle of the month, the month/moon is shrinking toward the end of the month, until the month/moon is gone. When the moon starts to return, so does the month. Isn't this the MOST SIMPLE? Doesn't nature itself testify?

New Moons are NOT commanded Rest Days or Commanded Assemblies:
According to the Bible, we should make observation of the New Moons. These are not Sabbaths, days of rest nor High Holy Days. They are not commanded assemblies/convocations. New Moons are used only for calculation of the days of the month. But it would be a good day to attend services IF a local gathering is possible. But NOT commanded. It would be good to worship The Creator more often, fellowship with the brethren more often and be able to know what month it is and what time of month it is so that we can know when to keep the Festival and Holy Days. However, we should not stress our selves out traveling far every new moon to attend. Notice the verses below show that we should make an observation of the new moons but it never uses the word "holy convocation". Holy Convocations are Commanded Assemblies such as the weekly Sabbath and the Feast days.

Numbers 10:10 "Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God".
This verse includes several types of observations and observances. Each one is marked with temple sacrifices, as well as the blowing of a trumpet for purposes of time keeping. It doesn't say anything about which days to assemble or rest.

Numbers 28:11 "And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the Lord; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven lambs of the first year without spot"
If you start at verse 1-8, you see that it also says that the priests were to make offerings every day, every morning and every evening. Yet, we know that we are NOT commanded to rest or to assemble every day. When it gets to the part about new moons, it only speaks of sacrifices. Not rest. Not assembly of the congregation. These are sacrificial works of the temple priests which are now done away by The Blood of The Lamb of JE-sus The Christ.

1 Chron. 23:31 "And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD"
Again, this is a verse that is lumping several events into one generalized verse, without giving which days to rest or assemble.

Ezra 3:5 And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the LORD.
Does not specify which days to rest or assemble.

Neh. 10:33 For the shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.
Does not specify which days to rest or assemble.

Ezekiel 46:1 Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
:3 Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new moons.
:6 And in the day of the new moon it shall be a young bullock without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they shall be without blemish.
Ezekiel 40-48 has two major problems. First, the writings of these chapters are MUCH different than the writings of the other preceding 39 chapters! Everything about the writings of these chapters is different than the previous 39 chapters. It is as if a totally different person is writing. I HAVE to wonder about the legitimacy of chapters 40-48.
Secondly, contrary to popular belief, these chapters are giving instructions for a the second Temple. NOT a future millennium temple. The Scriptures are extremely clear that there will never again be a Jewish Temple built. Click here for proof. So we must keep these chapters in the context of a Temple that was already built and destroyed. We also must look elsewhere to other verses, in other more reliable chapters and books to confirm and support any doctrine. NEVER base a doctrine on just one passage of scripture, to ensure that you truly do understand what is being taught.
Therefore, due to above reasons, I cannot declare that Ezekiel 46 teaches that we must assemble on the new moons. I must confirm or clarify with other verses.

Amos 8:5 "Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?"
This is the rebellious, wicked people speaking. NOT GOD. We cannot use this verse as a commandment of The Creator. It only shows that the rebellious, wicked people were thinking that they had to refrain from selling on the new moons. We cannot find any scripture giving such commandment.

Psalm 81:3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
This is actually talking about the Festival of Trumpets. It is the only feast day that occurs on the same day as a new moon. We should not assume to apply this verse to every new moon.

Isa. 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
We need to understand that the word "month" comes from the word "moon". They are interchangeable. This is declaring that from one month to another month, every month and every week, that people will come to worship JEsus during the millennium. Perhaps it may be on the new moons. We see commandment now to rest every 7th day and on the annual Festivals. I am lacking any commandment to rest or assemble on the new moons. I cannot assume. Even in this verse, It says that they WILL come, I still do not see a command to come. Whereas in Zech. 14 there is a command to come for the Festival of Tabernacles during the millennium. Why does it leave out "new moons" in Zech. 14? I believe the context of Isa. 66:23 is continuity, every month, every week.

Col. 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Colossians is often used to try to disprove the Sabbath and Holy Days. But it is talking to the church that is keeping these days! It is saying for the church to not let others judge us for keeping these days. The apostles and disciplines continued to keep the Holy Days and Sabbaths after Jesus ascended into Heaven!
Since this verse says that we are to not allow anyone to judge us in respect to Holy Days (of the bible. This cannot be applied to pagan holiday such as Christmas & Easter) and new moons, then if you feel compelled to keep/observe the new moons, I cannot judge you for doing so. But as far as what I must teach, I must only teach what the Scriptures declare that we should and should not do. I do not see any instruction or commandment to keep the new moons as commanded rests or assemblys.

Lev.23 is the most complete and comprehensive list of commanded Holy Days, Rest Days instructions. All in one place. It is the ultimate instruction chapter to go by on this topic. It is so comprehensive, that it even starts out with the weekly 7th day in the list of Holy Days! It goes one by one, describing when and how to observe The Holy Days. WHY does it leave out "new moons"??? The only possible answer is that the new moons are not commanded days of Rest or Assembly.

When Does The Year Begin?
There are two schools of thought: 1. Abid: Start of year based on when the barley is ripe in Israel.
However, what if there is a drought, hurricane, thunderstorm, tornado, animals or something else that prevents you from having ripe barley on time? If we go by ripe barley ALONE, we could have people in different regions, different states starting the year at different times!
2. First new moon after Spring/vernal equinox.

i used to go by when the barley was ripe in Israel. But then i realized that time is ALSO based on the revolutions/cycles/circuits of the sun, moon, stars, Earth. NOT based on barley alone.
Genesis 1:14 KJV "And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and YEARS".
The Bible actually says that the lights (sun, stars, moons) are for Seasons, Days AND YEARS. Therefore we must accept that.
But WHEN?
Exodus 34:22, KJV: "And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest. and the feast of ingathering at the year's END (Strong's Concordance #H8622)."
H8622= tequwphah: coming round, circuit of time or space, a turning, circuit.
From H5362; a revolution, that is, (of the sun) course, (of time) lapse. Source: http://studybible .info/strongs/H8622.

Exodus 34:22 Greek Septuagint (LXX) & The Alpha & Omega Bible (A&O) "And you shall keep to me the Feast of Weeks, the beginning of wheat harvest; and the Feast of Ingathering in the middle of the year".

We know that the Scriptures tell us that the Feast of Tabernacles is to occur in the 7th Month. Not on the 1st month or last month. Therefore the Greek Septuagint & The Alpha & Omega Bible is more accurate in the translation of this verse.
On the day of the Spring equinox, usually on March 20, the sun will again be perfectly aligned with the equator. The sun will again rise due east and set due west; day & night will essentially be the same length, each consisting roughly of around 12 hours. After this point, the daylight hours will begin to outweigh the dark hours and the sun has begun a new circuit or revolution. Therefore, the new year usually begins with the first crescent after the spring/vernal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. The Holy Days must be within their proper seasons. Passover is in the first month and must be in the Spring. It is not spring until the spring equinox. BOTH BARLEY AND SPRING Equinox MUST BE PLACED INTO CONSIDERATION.
“Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; let them be for signs and SEASONS, and for days and years” (Gen.1:14). Seasons is Strong's #H4150 - mowed: I.appointed place, appointed time, meeting A. appointed time i. appointed time (general) ii. sacred season, set feast, appointed season B. appointed meeting C. appointed place D. appointed sign or signal E. tent of meeting
Therefore, The sun, moon & Stars not only appoint the start of each month or year but also the Holy Days themselves. Each Holy Day must be within their appointed time and appointed season. The name of the first biblical month is “Abib” which refers to new growth of the barley plants, which happens in the Spring. See also Lev.23:4; Numbers 9:2-3, 13; Num.28:2.
So, we count 29-30 days for each & every month until we come to the Spring Equinox. Since 29-30 days of each month times 12 month = (6 months of 29, 6 months of 30 days) 29.5x12= 354 days BUT there are 365 1/4 days in a year (revolution of the Earth around the sun). We are going to come up short.
That's where it becomes confusing to me. Can we start the new year at a new moon BEFORE the 365 1/4 days cycle is complete? Do we have to wait until the NEXT new moon AFTER the cycle is complete to start the year? Can we be in the middle of a month and begin a new year? would we say it is the 13th month, 12th Day of the month but the first day of the year? We cannot start a new month until the moon finishes its 29-30 day cycle. If anyone can help clarify things for me, i would appreciate it. Until then, i believe the best solution is found in this quote below. Although, i do NOT believe that we should FOLLOW and OBEY what the Jews say about everything concerning the calendar or anything else, i do observe that they might have a good understanding about how to calculate the new year. Therefore i quote from the following website http://www.jewfaq.org/calendar.htm:
"On average, the moon revolves around the Earth in about 29½ days. The Earth revolves around the sun in about 365¼ days, that is, about 12.4 lunar months. Years are either 12 or 13 months, corresponding to the 12.4 month solar cycle. ...
The problem with strictly lunar calendars is that there are approximately 12.4 lunar months in every solar year, so a 12-month lunar calendar is about 11 days shorter than a solar year and a 13-month lunar is about 19 longer than a solar year. The months drift around the seasons on such a calendar: on a 12-month lunar calendar, the month of Nissan, which is supposed to occur in the Spring, would occur 11 days earlier in the season each year, eventually occurring in the Winter, the Fall, the Summer, and then the Spring again. On a 13-month lunar calendar, the same thing would happen in the other direction, and faster.

To compensate for this drift, the Jewish calendar uses a 12-month lunar calendar with an extra month occasionally added. The month of Nissan occurs 11 days earlier each year for two or three years, and then jumps forward 30 days, balancing out the drift. In ancient times, this month was added by observation: the Sanhedrin observed the conditions of the weather, the crops and the livestock, and if these were not sufficiently advanced to be considered "spring," then the Sanhedrin inserted an additional month into the calendar to make sure that Pesach (Passover) would occur in the spring (it is, after all, referred to in the Torah as Chag he-Aviv, the Festival of Spring!).

A year with 13 months is referred to in Hebrew as Shanah Me'uberet (pronounced shah-NAH meh-oo-BEH-reht), literally: a pregnant year. In English, we commonly call it a leap year. The additional month is known as Adar I, Adar Rishon (first Adar) or Adar Alef (the Hebrew letter Alef being the numeral "1" in Hebrew). The extra month is inserted before the regular month of Adar (known in such years as Adar II, Adar Sheini or Adar Beit). Note that Adar II is the "real" Adar, the one in which Purim is celebrated, the one in which yahrzeits for Adar are observed, the one in which a 13-year-old born in Adar becomes a Bar Mitzvah. Adar I is the "extra" Adar. "

UN-QUOTE from Jewish calendar website.

In the new moon dates listed below, you will notice the new moon is usually very soon after spring equinox. In 2018, the new moon starts only 2 days before the spring equinox. If we wait to start the year until April 17th, Passover will be too LATE in the Spring. The equinox is so close to the new moon that it doesn't make sense to wait another whole month. The calendar can get pretty confusing. i admit i don't understand it all. But i am Very confident of the dates i have written below. These dates do NOT always agree with what the Jews are currently forecasting. i do NOT believe we have to follow the Jews. They are NOT in Moses seat. i have made the following date determinations by looking at GOD's Created calendar via when the new crescent moons are going to be in existence. i submit to any corrections from the two witnesses when they stand up in Jerusalem, as they are the Apostles/Prophets GOD has ordained to lead the Church during the Great Tribulation.

Arguments: Accusation: This is moon, sun, star worship.
If this is worship of the moon, sun and stars, then whenever you look at the calendar on your wall, that also is worship. All you are doing is looking to see what day it is, when the month ends and end the year ends, etc. When we look at GOD's Calendar in the sky, all we are doing is looking at the calendar. There is no worship here of those creations.

How To Tell Time by the Stars & Constellations
GOD created the sun, moon AND STARS as His Time Clock.
In ancient times mankind did not have watches and clocks made by man. Instead, they observed the sun, moon and stars including the constellations. They then went too far and started worshipping those heavenly objects which of course is wrong. But there is nothing wrong with observing those objects as a clock as GOD intended. When Day Starts
There is day and night. But the 24 hour day is determined by the Sun.
It's very important to know whether each day starts at sunrise or at sunset. It's a subject that requires an article of it's own. So please bookmark the article that you are currently reading. And bookmark the article linked here for When the Day Starts.
Click Here to learn that the 24 hour day starts at twilight, in the morning, near sunrise. NOT at sunset as the Jews adopted from Babylon.

Lunar Weekly Sabbath??? Some people claim that we observe the weekly 7th day of the week, commanded rest & assembly, by counting from the first day of the month. That is NOT accurate and it is NOT biblical. Please click here to see proof against the "Lunar Weekly Sabbath Theory".

Weekly 7th Day of Rest & Assembly
However, we ARE instructed in the Scriptures to observe the 7th Day of every week as a commanded rest & assembly.

This is the first event of what people are calling the "blood moon Tetrad", which is 4 eclipse's occurring on Holy Days in 2014-2015. The Bible does NOT mention this blood moon tetrad. But it most likely IS a sign because every time a blood moon tetrad occurs (and this is the 4th time the tetrads have occurred since Christ) something major happens with Israel. UPDATE: JEsus has now revealed to me that the Blood Moons of 2015 mark the EXACT times and dates of HIS Birth and Death! Click Here for PROOF.
