The Forgotten Commandment

Please Pray BEFORE you read this article, in sincere seeking for The Truth.
Exodus 20:4 "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth".
To fully understand the 2nd Commandment against idols, we must also understand the Spirit of the Law concerning the other Commandments as well. Let's first look at some of the other commandments & then we will get back to this 2nd Commandment, the main subject of this article.
The Commandment of the 7th Day of Rest & Worship
Exo. 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
The "Spirit of The Law" of this Commandment is that JEsus gave us a SPECIFIC appointed, sanctified, day of the week (Hebrews 4:7), Saturday, to provide for our physical need of rest as well as an appointed & ordained, sanctified, set apart, day of worship in the setting of a formal gathering/assembly with our spiritual brothers & sisters. The Spirit of this Law is NOT to burden mankind. The 7th Day was made FOR man. NOT man for the 7th Day. In the old covenant letter of the law, people could not even kindle fire on the 7th Day. But we must understand that the Scriptures proclaim that more law, ordinances & extra regulations were added on because of the people's rebellion & sinfulness. (Galatians 3:19) The 10 Commandments & Holy Days were intact even during the time of Adam & Eve. (Genesis 2:1-3, Gen.4:1-7, Gen.26:5, Exodus 12 & 16, Mark 2:27-28 See also the article about the 7th Day). But mankind was sinful & therefore needed extra rules & regulations to monitor & keep the people in order. Think of an employee who is taught to follow some simple rules. But the employee transgresses & doesn't follow all of the rules completely & tries to cheat. The kind & gracious employer, instead of firing the employee for the first & second offense, keeps the employee but enforces extra rules & regulations in ensure the keeping & principal of the first rule. That is what happened with the 7th Day. People were not keeping the 7th Day & so The Heavenly Father had to enforce extra regulations concerning the 7th Day. But JE-sus knew how to observe & keep the 7th Day in the original Spirit & principal of the Law. He knew it was acceptable to feed Himself & His Followers on the 7th Day, as well as to help people & heal people on the 7th Day. The legalistic Pharisees falsely accused Him of breaking the Law of the 7th Day, but He was NOT breaking the Law, as the Scriptures proclaim that He NEVER sinned which means He NEVER broke the Law. He just kept the Law in it's original spiritual principal.
For example, We should try ahead of time to prepare for the coming 7th Day. We know it's coming, it's not a surprise when the 7th Day comes. We CAN prepare for it. So we should try to prepare as much as possible so that we will not have to do as much work/labor on the 7th Day. However, if for some reason, that we were NOT able to prepare, (even as JEsus & His disciples were not able to prepare, in the case of where they were traveling & reached out to take & eat grain to eat on the 7th Day) we too can do what's necessary to eat. We can go buy something in the store or restaurant in order to eat. We can go out in the garden & pick food in order to get something to eat. HE does NOT expect us to starve because of our legalism. The 7th Day is NOT meant for starvation. It's meant for rest & worship. How can I rest if I am starving?
I can even go to a vending machine to get food or drink on the 7th Day. Usually we are not to buy or sell on the 7th Day because if ANYONE buys on the 7th Day, that person is employing someone to work & causing that person to be a paid servant on the day that is forbidden from doing any paid work. However there is no one working at the vending machine. We are not making anyone work on that day. Buying something from a vending machine does NOT in any way break any of the Spiritual principals of the 7th Day.
Also, It's acceptable to pull the Ox out of the ditch on the 7th Day. Therefore if we see someone in need of a car batter jump, flat tire, etc. it's acceptable to help. We should not turn away people in need. How is turning away someone in need obeying GOD? It's acceptable for doctors, nurses, firemen, police to help people on the 7th Day. How is turning away a bleeding or dying person obeying GOD? However, people in ALL types of employment, even these, need to be scheduled the 7th Day off from work. But if you are a member of emergency personnel, it is acceptable to go in on an TRUE EMERGENCY call.

Honor Your father & your mother
Many people wrongfully think that this means that you should always associate with your family regardless of abuse or circumstance. However, it's NOT the Spiritual principal, purpose or will of GOD for anyone to endure abuse whether it's physical, emotional, spiritual or verbal abuse. A wife is NOT obligated to stay with a husband who is abusing her! (Click here for a study of the word "fornication" which can mean physical abuse & many other things) The Commandments of GOD is NOT for our death & suffering!!! But rather the Commandments instruct us how to show our Love to GOD & fellow mankind. By continuing to accept parental or spousal abuse, that does NOTHING to truly show our love, it's only shows weakness & danger.
Luke 18:29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
This verse above shows that there ARE times that it's acceptable to forsake parents, spouses or even our own children! As much as we love someone, we must always be willing to put our heavenly Creator first! Honoring our parents does NOT mean that we must allow them to destroy us spiritually, mentally, emotionally or physically. Therefore we see that we must follow the Spirit of the reason/principal of why each of the 10 Commandments were given. They were meant FOR us, not against us.
Thou Shall NOT commit Adultery
We know that normally it's adultery to marry a harlot. However in Hosea 1, GOD commands Hosea to marry a harlot! According to the LETTER of the Law, it would have been a sin for Hosea to do so. But according to the instruction of The Holy Spirit, under the spiritual reason that GOD was performing, it was NOT a sin, but rather Hosea as actually obeying the Voice of The Holy Spirit of the Law over the Letter of the Law.
Samson
Under old covenant law, the Hebrew men were forbidden from having sex with (marrying) gentile women. However, we learn in Judges 14:1-4 that it was actually GOD's Will that Samson be with the gentile Philistine women including Delilah who led to his death. Samson did NOT sin in his dealings with these women! He was obeying the direction that GOD took him in.
Now back to our main topic: Images
Exo.20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, OR ANY LIKENESS of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
The CONTEXT shows that the Spiritual principal/reason behind the forbidding of images is that GOD does not want us to have any other gods. We should not completely separate the 1st & 2nd Commandment. They ARE connected. So if we consider the verses before AND after verse 4, the spirit of the law is that we should not have ANY images that we would end up worshipping/idolizing or that would corrupt us.
However, there are 2 main points that we need to cover here.
1. This commandment includes ANY type of image that corrupts a person with idolatry or false worship. So it is NOT limited to only images carved in stone. Thousands of years ago, people only had the ability to carve images into stone & wood. But now we also carve images into paper, plastic, metals, ink, digital video, 3D printing, etc. It doesn't matter what format the image takes. The same spiritual principal applies. The worship of a false god is just as bad in print or video as it is in stone.
2. You do NOT have to literally bow down to the ground in order to spiritually or subconsciously worship something. If we really & truly examine ourselves deep enough, we must admit that TONS of images in our world today ARE breaking this Commandment. LOTS of people ARE making idols & false gods of gold, silver, money, cars, houses, jobs, lands, husbands, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends & other friends, as well as toys, video games, movie stars/actors, singers, bands, etc. Our modern world, especially the western world, is FILLED with idolatry & false gods. Most people do NOT examine themselves deep enough & so most people do not admit that their car is their god, or their girlfriend is their god, or their favorite musician or actor is a god to them. The FACT is that MANY people ARE using images of musicians & actors/actresses as gods, whether they admit it or not. You might claim that you are not worshipping a figurine/statue or 3D image of an animal or person, but the fact that you WANT such a figurine/statute/3D image proves that you idolize that image enough to make or buy your own version of the "golden calf". It doesn't have to be a cow or made of gold to be a spiritual "golden calf" idol to you. The purpose of all 3D images of animals & people is to idolize that image. Period.

-Old TV shows of "Bewitched, Adams Family, I Dream Of Jeanie" because they glorify darkness & make lite of darkness as if darkness is something just fun & harmless.
-ALL Disney shows/movies/characters, because Disney has a proven & well documented record of putting subliminal sex messages in their images. They have also promoted homosexuality. They now have gay characters & have a gay pride day at Disneyland.
-ALL movies produced by Columbia Pictures or Tristar Pictures because these movies start with the image of the pagan god "Pegasus" (horse with wings) at the start of the movie/DVD or else they show the Queen of Heaven pagan goddess known as Hera/Ishtar & many other names. We cannot compromise with images of demons! We must boycott all movies that have this imagery & any other pagan god imagery. This is a large majority of movies today in western society.
-ALL movies that have the "G.D" words & other vulgar language. You should always research the movies that you are thinking about watching. The website Kids-in-Mind.com provides a very detailed description of lots of movies & tells you exactly what words & how much sex & violence is in the film.
-Curious George cartoons and lots of other cartoons promote homosexuality, etc.
-Pokemon & all related characters & most Japanese animation.
-All Superheros, Superman, Batman, Spider-man, X-men, Wonder Woman, etc. Aliens & hybrid creatures are actually demons. These movies/cartoons are getting darker & darker with every release. Our only superheros should be Jesus and the men & women of the Bible. That's a lot of superheros who were actually real who the children should be looking up to.
-Posters & printed images of movie stars & famous musicians. We must use extra caution to make sure that we are not going to idolize/worship anyone just because they sing good or act good.
-"Adult" coloring books. Most of these contain "mandalas" which are Hindu pagan images. I discern intense evil in these books. More Infor. on adult coloring books
-Another thing that should be admitted is that the Christmas tree is a pagan god idol. People do not like to admit this, but how can you deny it when you are offering gifts at it's feet? How can you deny the pagan origins of the Christmas tree if you honestly research it? The decorations? The mistletoe? Etc. ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING about the Christmas tree is pagan idolatry and breaks the 1st AND 2nd Commandment in every possible way! See the article The Assyrian Pagan Origin of Christmas.

-All statues, dolls, stuffed animals, figurines of dogs, cats, birds, turtles, rabbits, unicorns, frogs, horses, roosters & other animals or people. Anything that is a 3D/Graven image of a living thing/person or animal. It's one thing to have a drawing or picture of someone/something, but when we go to the extent of having a 3D image, (that's a shaped image compared to a flat image) then we are going beyond a drawing or picture and definitely crossing the line of idolatry. Yes GOD did tell SOME people in the bible to make images & statues of angels & animals but that was by direct order of GOD for His own furniture in temple, etc. If GOD wants a image for decor, that's HIS right. It's NOT the same when we make our own decision to do whatever we want to do outside of His Will, for purposes that are NOT acceptable whether we realize it or not. Yes GOD DOES look at the heart. And HE sees much deeper into the heart than what we do, and HE sees our love of wickedness & idolatry. HE sees when we are rebellious & do not want to obey HIS Commandments. HE sees when we idolize people, animals & pagan religious symbols & trees of pagan worship. All statues/figurines of angels, saints or Jesus, are definitely pagan idolatry. All pictures of Jesus are idolatry. They are actually pictures of one of the sons of an evil Roman Catholic Pope. Source.

Generalized List of Acceptable Images
(Always exercise caution & test the spirits & images on everything. This is only a short generalized list)
Some Educational images such as pictures in educational, reference or instructional books or videos.
Some 3D figurines of humans/animals for educational teaching for medical, science, etc.
Some Faith based movies, or bible movies.
Some Clean, decent documentaries, comedies or drama, as long as no picture/logo of demons such as Pegasus at the beginning of the movie, & no vulgar language, no homosexuality, no promotion of witchcraft, islam or other antichrist religions.
Some Drawings/stickers on envelopes in the mail.
Some Hunting, Fishing, Biking magazines. Some Home and Garden magazines. Some other magazines.
Some Newspapers, sales ads, magazines, etc.
Lost People Should Abstain 100% From All Images of ALL Kinds
People who do NOT have the Holy Ghost of JEsus Christ CANNOT truthfully discern spiritual things. (1 Cor.2:14) Most lost people think of themselves as wise & intelligent & as good people who will inherit Heaven only because they have not murdered anyone & because they have respect toward people & treat people good. They believe this is enough & you don't have to separate yourself from very much. But the Scriptures repeatedly tell us to separate ourselves from alcoholics, homosexuals, people involved in wicca/witchcraft, antichrist religions like islam, Buddhism, Hinduism & from people who CLAIM to be saved but live a lifestyle of sin. AND the Scriptures tell us to abstain from ALL appearance of darkness/evil & to be a separate & HOLY people. Lost people think it's a sin to judge anyone for anything. But the scriptures tell us to judge righteously & to learn to judge correctly because eventually we are even going to judge the angels. Lost people wrongfully & hypocritically judge & condemn the Saints of GOD every day. But everyone MUST make righteous & correct judgments every day of our lives. We must judge about whether someone is to be trusted, whether someone is acceptable to associate with, whether to steal, to lie, to cheat, to obey the law, or to disobey the law and MANY other judgments every day. If we do not judge anyone or anything, we would be a very ignorant people constantly in trouble. (See our article on Judging) But only by the Power of The Holy Ghost of JEsus Christ who was born, crucified, resurrected & re-glorified can mankind truly discern spiritual things in order to know what kind of images are acceptable & which ones are not acceptable except for the most obvious. Therefore, saved/baptized parents should make the decisions about ALL images for their children of ALL ages living within their household (even ages 16-21) until their child is baptized & saved in Jesus Christ. Even after your children are baptized, the man of the house (or mom if there is no dad living in the house) should monitor & regulate images including computers & television, magazines, etc. People who are no longer living with their parents (ages 16 to 120) who have not repented of their sins, have not made a 100% commitment to obey, follow & serve Jesus Christ and have not been baptized, should be EXTREMELY cautious about all images of all types until they get saved & learn to grow in discernment, knowledge & understanding.

It's against carnal human nature to admit that we are wrong. But as Holy Spirit filled people & as Children of The Creator, we should be willing to go deeper in self-examination & deeper into the Holy Scriptures & FARTHER into His Standard of Holiness & sanctified living. There will NOT be any sin in Heaven or in the fullness of the Kingdom. We must get all sin out of our lives. We must purge all idols of the heart and ALL false doctrine & misconceptions. LIFE OR DEATH is worth a few days of fasting!
